describe

Is there no way to do a describe on a table over a db link? Also, issuing 'desc

in a sql window produces an eror (no matter where the table is), why (I realize you can right-click to do a describe)? Toad can do both of these, and I'd like to switch to PL/SQL Dev, but the former problem (db link desc) is somewhat of a showstopper.

In PL/SQL Developer, Command Window has most of the SQL*Plus functionality, so describe works there.

select * from

The describe function does indeed not support database links.
