Ctrl-Tab order messed up in version 11.

Hi,

Since moving to version 11 (currently on 11.0.2.1768) I have noticed that the Ctrl-Tab ordering seems to have become nonsense for my normal usage pattern.

I think this is caused by the change in version 11 to make Ctrl-Tab always follow the same order as the Window List.

The problem is, if you are in a window that was not the most recently opened one, a new window is always added to the bottom of the window list. This may make sense when purely looking at the window list, but it does not make sense if you normally work with the window list hidden.

Say you have 6 windows open and you are working in a serverside which was the 3rd window opened. You quickly open an SQL window to check something. I would expect Ctrl-Shift_Tab to get me back to the window I was in (and then alternate Ctrl-Tab/Ctrl-Shift-Tab to switch between the 2) as that is normal standard windows application behaviour, but it doesn't work like that any more. It takes me to a seemingly random window (the last but one opened).

In fact if you close the SQL window rather than using Ctrl-Tab functionality, then it does go back to the window you were in - in that case closing a window and Ctrl-Shift-Tab no longer take you to the same window.

If you have the window list open and concentrate on that then the logic of it is obvious and you can move the order of the windows in there to get what I expect. But that is a lot of effort/mouse-clicks each time to get 'normal' behaviour.

One obvious solution would be to have new windows open after the current window in the list rather than at the end. It may want to be an option though as I imagine other people may prefer the current behaviour.

Or am I missing an option somewhere that would give me the old behaviour?

Thanks for listening.

I also strongly vote for old behaivour or an option for it.
The new one is pretty much useless and results in reduced productivity.

I use PLD 10 sometimes now almost exclusevly for some Ctrl+Tab godness, when I have to switch often.

I agree with the previous speakers. In the production I currently still use the version 10, because the new behavior is inconvenient for me. Would be glad if there will soon be an option that enables the old behavior.

Just one voice against this suggestion: I use PL/SQL Developer already 10 years and new Ctrl-Tab order in v11 for me is a great improvement of usability.

So, I vote for implementing "old" behavior as an option.

Thanks in advance :)

Once again...
The current behavior is very unsuitable for work within many files in random order. So we've to switch between v10 (for work with Ctrl+Tab) and v11 (for the use of all new features).
I sincerely hope that a switchover for that is planned for the next update.
Thx in advance

My question - once again ;)
Could you please tell me if you still plan to provide this feature.
It would be very helpful to ease my daily work.
thx frank

Hallo Marco,
Please, please please ...
could you provide this option. It prevents us to switch to current version 11.x from 10.x
It seems to be essential for developers to navigate in window list so we can do that in v10.
Thanks in advance Andy
