Compare two schema objects

Is there any way to compare two schema objects without exporting one to a file?

Isn't that what the "Compare User Objects" tool does? Or am I missing something?

The "Compare User Objects" compares two same-named objects in different schemas or instances. What I would like to do is compare two objects in the same schema (so, most likely, they would have different names). The "Compare User Objects" tool is very useful for comparing two schemas but not for what I am looking to do.
