canvas does not allow drawing

I am getting an error, canvas does not allow drawing. This error occurs when I compile a package and happens intermittently. For a while this error occurred infrequently, however, yesterday it occurred 6 times. In addition to this problem PL/SQL developer hung while compiling a package. When the application hung, I had to kill the task I task manager.

I have search the forum for this problem and have found several references to it in older release without a resolution.

We are currently using PL/SQL developer 8.0.2.1505 02.58360. We are running window XP with service pack 2 and 4 gb of memory.

Turning off compile in background fixed this problem> To turn off compile in background select on the menu option Tools, Preferences and click Program Window under Window Types section. Unckeck the box Background Compile. clcik okay to close dialog.

I got this problem today as well with window "Compare User Objects" open. The compare was already done however when trying to close it I got "Compare User Objects Window cannot be closed, Compare still busy". When clicking on any button in the window or trying to switch to another window I got the "canvas does not allow drawing" error. Only choice left was killing PSD via windows task manager.
