I work on a PC with PL/SQL Developer Project Files (*.prj & *.dsk) stored in a folder on C drive. On a VM (virtual machine) I have the same in a folder named the same, but now on D drive, as C drive there is too small and should therefore only be used for installations.
I guess currently there is no easy way to work with the same project files on both the PC and the VM, as for the VM the project file content would have to be replaced ("C:\" -> "D:\") and vice versa, or is there any easier method?
If not I would like that the main drive and main folder for project files should be easily changable within the preferences of each installation and the path in *.prj & *.dsk should then be rather stored relative to that main path. This would make it a lot easier to adapt to project files stored in a different main path in a different installation.

If you store the project .prj file and the source files in the same directory and/or subdirectories, all file references will be relative within the .prj file. This way the project directory (.prj + its files) is portable between different locations and drives.

This works well for the project .prj file, but not for the .dsk file. In there the whole old path including the drive still appears in sections [Desktop] and [MRU]. Therefore when you open the same project in an environment using a different drive for the project and all project files, no file gets opened and you have to first open them all manually again using the right connection again as well.
I like to keep project files (*.prj + *.dsk) also in a separate folder within the same main root path altogether. It should still be possible to have projects stored in a portable way like this, avoiding absolute paths including drive letters.

Hi Marco, could you please add it as an enhancement request to make both, project and desktop files, truly portable and not just the prj files in case when all scripts are in same folder or underneath. Thank you.
