The latest version is awfully slow. Compared to 13.0.0 it takes about 60% longer to just open the application using command line options
Code
NoLoadDesktop nologon
So loading nothing.
When I open a bigger project, it takes as well about 60% longer.
Same when I open a lot of items in a project folder.
Also just saving a file is really slow.
You can also see that CPU consumption goes up a lot more in all those cases. Please get it back to the previous performance again.

Berny

I did a little test and found that 13.0.0 starts in 5.8 seconds and 13.0.1/13.0.2 starts in 7.2 seconds. We'll investigate.

It turns out that version 13.0.2 is slower when reading the template directory. For my tests the template directory was quite large with many subdirectories. If I revert to the standard template directory, which is much smaller and simpler, there is no difference between 13.0.0 and 13.0.2.

Can you let me know if you have a large template directory as well? Can you also let me know if the templates are located on the local PC or on a network share?

In any case, we'll fix the template performance issue.

In my preferences template directory is blank, so according to manual
[quote]If you leave this directory blank, the Template subdirectory in the PL/SQL Directory will be used.[/quote]
This is not really clear, but I guess this refers to:
%APPDATA%\PLSQL Developer 13\Template
In there I have 236 files in 11 folders with a size of 42.5 KB.
I haven't created any templates of my own, so those all are default ones.
In my case the opening of PL/SQL Developer stays a long time in "Loading Plug-Ins...". I have just plsqldoc 1.3.0 used as Plug-In.
Active Query Builder v 1.4.1 is there as well. I guess it's installed by default.
I guess the templates and plug-ins just slow down opening of PSD.
So why do you think opening projects and opening larger number of files in project tabs is so slow compared to former v13 PSD versions as well then?

Berny

We have optimized the template process, and with my original test the new version now start 1 second faster than 13.0.0 (4.8 seconds vs. 5.8 seconds). Let me know if you would like a test version.

When opening projects and files I do not see any difference between 13.0.0 and 13.0.2. Can you reboot your PC and check if the performance degradation persists?

Can you also start PL/SQL Developer without connecting, go to Help > Support Info and send me the text from the "Info" tab page?

For me it takes about 40 seconds in 13.0.2 to just have PL/SQL Developer started using "NoLoadDesktop nologon" command line parameters. For 13.0.0 that takes about 25 seconds. Both very long times for just opening and doing nothing else.
This doesn't change after rebooting and starting no other applications before. I have just mailed you the text from "Help" > "Support Info" - "Info" tab page.
How do you measure those times to the 10th of a second? I wouldn't trust measuring with an external stop-watch to be that precise. Are you using an instrumentated version for measuring? Why can't such instrumentation not be part of the general version?
Compare as well with https://forums.allroundautomations.com/ubb/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=59445

Both startup times are much too long. I will contact you by e-mail to investigate this further.
