Enhancement request (I think): I am using the "Tools / Text Importer" tool to load data from .csv files. The data given to me in a file from an analyst is imperfect. Tonight I had 19 out of 579 records that were rejected due to errors. What I would like is a "Rejected record" file or window. If I had that, I would choose "Continue" after each error, and then I would send the "Rejected record" records back to the person who created the data file to let the analyst know that all but the bad records were imported successfully. Then presumably, the analyst would fix the bad records and send back a file with corrected records.

To give some more context to this request, I am using Text Importer instead of using SQL*Loader, and remember that SQL*Loader creates a .bad file of rejected records. I just want the same end result--a set of rejected records. (Does this feature already exist? I looked but could not find it.)

thanks,
pat holmes

oh yes, this

TextImporter works great.
But I'm always puzzled why it doesn't provide an option to log the bad records but instead pops up big message box showing the record that fails. (my guess is that this was implemented straight from the programmers perspective)

Also, in addition to showing a log of errors encountered, how about an ability to log duplicates? I've performed an import, and there are duplicate records, but I don't know which records are duplicates. (Maybe adding a third radio button "Flag duplicates" to allow the duplicates to be logged as an error.)
