Hello,

I'm new to DOA (and Oracle for that matter), so this may seem like a stupid question but.... For some reason, I'm having a really hard time setting the Connected property of the OracleSession component to True at Design-Time. My first attempts all ended with Access Violations on ORA805 (or something like that). After I re-boot my computer, I no longer received the access violation, but I get an error stating my username and password is invalid. I KNOW the UserName & password are correct because when I enter the same values in a BDE Database component AND the SQL-Net application and everything works fine. So next, I attempted to set the active property at runtime by using the TOracleLogon's execute function. Entering the same values here allows me to successfully open the database at runtime. So, is there some sort of limitation to opening the DB in design? My configuration is below:

D5 Enterprise (SP1)
DOA 3.3.3 - Trial
Oracle 8.05 DB and Client

Hello Jay,

are you sure, you've entered the password/username in the right properties in the object inspector? The sequence in objectinspector is changed as in the standard logon-dialog.

Well, that must have been it, though I was sure I was entering them correctly. I t works fine now and I feel like an idiot now. Sorry to waste your time.

You need not to feel like an idiot. What do you think why I knew this problem ....
